Through its innovative solutions, Atomicwork automates and optimizes internal workflows, diminishes reliance on multiple disparate platforms, and enables employees to resolve issues in a timely manner.

Atomicwork’s mission aligns closely with the contemporary needs of enterprises, focusing on the exploration of AI products, particularly autonomous AI agents, to automate critical workflows such as tech support, onboarding, task management, and more.

According to a report, it is anticipated that 33% of enterprise software applications will incorporate agentic AI by 2028. Furthermore, it is expected that at least 15% of daily work decisions will be made autonomously through agentic AI.

Atomicwork aims to capture a significant share of this rapidly expanding market with its voice and vision AI agents tailored for enterprise IT teams.

Having raised $40 million since its inception, Atomicwork is leveraging these funds to advance its technology development, expand its talent pool, and enhance global customer acquisition. It is supported by distinguished investors, including OpenAI-backed Khosla Ventures, Blume Ventures, Z47, and Peak XV.

Laying The First Bricks Of Atomicwork

Rayapati is a second-time entrepreneur, previously selling his startup Minjar to Nutanix in 2018, while Darisi and Vijayasankar were integral members of Freshworks’ founding team. Having built software tailored for developers and small to medium businesses in their prior ventures, the trio came together to craft solutions that assist enterprises in overcoming their complex workflow challenges, ultimately resulting in the establishment of Atomicwork.

Following its inception in 2022, the founding team dedicated a year to constructing a foundational platform. During this period, they engaged in experimentation with AI while also refining strategies for customer acquisition. By 2024, Atomicwork had initiated the large-scale deployment of its platform throughout various enterprises.

“In any business, people use a plethora of tools and adhere to established processes to deliver products or services. However, issues commonly arise along the way—typically due to inadequate knowledge, insufficient training, or simply neglecting to consult the documentation. This is where automation can make a significant impact,” remarked the founders.

Rayapati highlighted that Atomicwork addresses this challenge comprehensively, ensuring enterprises can operate more swiftly without the necessity to integrate numerous tools for basic assistance.

The startup has developed an Agentic AI platform, Atom, which can be integrated with platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, Jira, Salesforce, Google Drive, and WordPress to facilitate end-to-end problem-solving for enterprises and their employees.

According to Rayapati, Atomicwork is solely focused on tackling internal workflow challenges within enterprises, as they tend to be more complex than external or customer-facing issues.

The Agentic AI platform features tools including AI Agents, AI Copilot, AI Skills, AI Search, AI Assistant, and AI Service Desk.

While the founder did not disclose the total customer base, Atomicwork serves leading global organizations across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and education. Notable customers include Zuora, Pepper Money, and AMMEX.

Atomicwork’s Fusion Of AI Models

Instead of creating proprietary large language models (LLMs), Atomicwork focuses on context engineering and the distillation of existing models to create small language models (SMLs) that respond to specific use cases.

For example, its AI agent equipped with video capabilities combines Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s GPT models. Similarly, for chat support, it utilizes a blend of Llama and OpenAI models, while also incorporating Anthropic and Cohere for additional use cases.

“We are crafting what is technically described as an ensemble AI architecture, which represents a fusion of various AI models,” explained Rayapati.

The startup has also developed proprietary datasets over the years, which are employed to train its AI models.

Rayapati clarified that Atomicwork opts for model distillation rather than fine-tuning. This choice is more cost-efficient, particularly as generative AI models are undergoing rapid transformations weekly.

As noted in a Google blog, while fine-tuned models generally perform better in predictions than the foundation LLMs, they maintain an identical number of parameters. Conversely, distillation creates smaller versions of LLMs that predict much faster with fewer computational and environmental resources than their full-sized counterparts.

Atomicwork does not customize its products for every enterprise. Instead, while companies may customize minimally as needed, the platform avoids the full-scale customization often required by traditional SaaS products.

For an enterprise employing 1,000 individuals, the average fee is approximately $100,000 annually. Atomicwork commenced generating revenue in 2024, but has opted not to disclose its earnings.

Forging Ahead Amid Global Competition

Looking ahead, the founders are determined to establish their platform as the preferred choice for CIOs while seeking to expand their customer base from its current roster of a few dozen organizations to hundreds.

“We are eager to achieve our first $100 million revenue milestone as swiftly as possible,” Rayapati remarked.

Nevertheless, the competitive landscape is intensifying. While Atomicwork is keen on surpassing ServiceNow, a cloud-based platform dedicated to automating and managing workflows, the enterprise AI sector is witnessing emerging competition from various firms, both large and small.

Major IT players, such as Wipro, TCS, and Amazon, have developed their own platforms as well. However, Rayapati believes that service companies face challenges in transitioning to product companies, even with the advent of AI technologies.

Moreover, as AI adoption continues to rise among Indian enterprises, Atomicwork sees considerable potential in this burgeoning market. According to Rayapati, no one in India is actively creating genuine enterprise-grade SaaS solutions.

“In India, Darwinbox is pioneering the development of true enterprise SaaS in the HR domain, similar to our efforts for IT teams. I maintain that there are not many players in the country targeting the global market with enterprise-focused solutions,” Rayapati noted, advocating for Indian entrepreneurs to pursue sectors historically dominated by legacy enterprises.

“The call to action is to create software platforms that are AI-native and built around AI. This represents a monumental opportunity that could pave the way for billion-dollar revenue streams and multibillion-dollar market capitalizations. Creating merely simplistic use cases isn’t sufficient; that kind of SaaS is becoming obsolete,” Rayapati concluded.

Currently, while Atomicwork’s vision to emerge as the go-to platform for CIOs is compelling, the journey ahead is undoubtedly challenging. The enterprise software landscape is fraught with difficulties, especially when competing against well-established global giants. Amidst this fierce competition, the question remains: can Atomicwork truly rise to the occasion and challenge the industry stalwarts?
